Fresh + Fly Friday Party Trends

Happy Friday Lovas! Jess {Party Pants} is guest posting for me today whilst I sit on the couch, eating jelly donuts and and watching Project Runway reruns. I hope you enjoy her Party Trend Round-Up:) Please visit her FB page + blog and leave her some sweetness, support and a little trail of glitta. xo

In case you haven't noticed, parties are kind of a big deal around here. They are such a big deal that us party gals are searching high and low for new trends to keep things lookin' fresh. And with the new year behind us and a new season right around the corner, we are all in need of a little trend roundup for 2013.

Well, look no further because I've done all the work for you! Here are my picks for the newest and hottest trends in party planning.

DIY For The Kids

There is a reason why we are all obsessed with Pinterest... It makes us happy to create pretty things! Think about how proud you are after you've spent all morning creating a tassel garland or beautiful paper flowers. Children find that same joy in crafting, which is why this latest theme allows the kids to create their own decor. One of my favorite examples of this are these confetti bag cupcake toppers by Icing Designs. I die over these. And I stalk Icing Designs. There, I said it.  I'm also loving these doodle cakes by Sweetopolita. She covered them in plain white fondant and let her kids do their own decorating. Now, what kid wouldn't be proud of that!?

Birch Wood

This next one is for all the wedding planners out there. This sophisticated trend started popping up in woodland themed parties using these great birch wood paper straws from Jazzy Apple Gal.  Here are some other examples of how beautiful birch wood can be with these subtle touches. You can find the flower holders at Bragging Bags and the heart confetti at Lace Surplus. Gorg!

Jazzed Up Balloons

Balloons at a party? Obvi. But DIY balloons is super fresh and adorable! Check out these incredibly sweet fabric covered balloons by Poppy Talk. The fabric gives it an instant shabby chic look and it's an easy, last minute touch anyone can throw together. I'm also crushing on these customized balloons by A Subtle Revelry and confetti balloons by Koko Designs.

The Revamped Paper Straw

This last trend is paper straws and they are brand new to the party scene! Just kidding. They are probably the oldest trend around and I don't think they are going away anytime soon. So why not revamp them? Well, that's exactly what The Party Fairy has done with these brand new paper straw designs. I've recently had requests for root beer float stations at a few children's parties and these milkshake straws could not be more perfect! And the cow print straws are a must have at any western/farm themed bash!

Thanks for reading! I hope these trends stick around for a while and I can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve, party peeps! Feel free to leave comments with your favorite new trends or something that you've tried at home.
